International Health: Elliott Smith tribute EP
Less than a year ago a friend introduced me to the music of Elliott Smith on a long road trip. I listened to several songs (selections from "Either/Or" and "From A Basement on the Hill") twice at most but I was amazed at how quickly the songs stood out, grabbed my interest and played over in my head like I've always known them. In the following months I picked up Either/Or and I was hooked. Here was music with brilliantly expressive harmonic, melodic and lyrical ideas, bursting with tension and anticipation and performed with an understated, genuine honesty. Not only did this music stand up to repeated listenings, but this only reinforced the musics depth and character. In those few months, I was influenced so much in fact that I found Elliott Smith was even being reflected in my own song writing. It is for that reason that I've decided to release an EP of 4 original songs inspired by the late song writer. The record is called International Health and is available here for free download.
